Who We Are
We are an independent compounding pharmacy completely devoted to preparing customized prescriptions. Our prescriptions, like the patients we serve, are one-of-a-kind.
With a doctor’s order, we prepare every prescription by hand to meet the individual therapeutic needs of each patient, including kids, animals, and adults. So even a slight change to your medicine can make a big difference in how you’ll feel. We bill most major prescription insurance plans and while co-payments and coverage vary from plan to plan, most compounds are covered.
Why operate a compounding pharmacy these days?
We live and work near Boston, home to world-renowned teaching hospitals and medical facilities. Still, practitioners find that their medication needs can’t be met with manufactured drugs. We fill that void by working with conscientious clinicians to create precision medicine therapies. And precision medicine helps patients achieve much better results, so everybody benefits.
We are licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy and all our chemicals are quality-assured through analysis and certification for identification, purity and potency. We are proud members of the Allicance for Pharmacy Compounding. Our facility is affiliated with Professional Compounding Centers of America, Inc.
The Soul of the Operation
Our senior team of pharmacists and educators are not only highly trained in the art and science of prescription compounding, but they are passionate about it.
William A. Beckman
Bill is the clinical director and co-founder of Custom Medicine Pharmacenter. In 2003, he and his partner and late wife Mary Beckman established a compounding-only pharmacy practice, dedicated to providing specialty medications to those patients in need of Boston's North Shore.
Bill's approach to care has always been patient-centered with the goal of best possible outcomes. In addition to creating and formulating medications for his patients, Bill acts as therapy manager for many prescribers regionally. He actively manages many bio-identical hormone therapies for physicians and other practitioners, and routinely advises on thyroid hormone treatment options.
Bill has recently added Low Dose Naltrexone therapy management to the services offered at Custom Medicine, having joined the ranks of LDNRx consultants. Through this treatment, Custom Medicine is able to support physicians in therapies for pain, auto-immune disorders, and inflammatory conditions.
Bill is also on the board of directors at BioPhysics Pharma, assisting them in both formulation and clinical development of new cutting edge drug delivery systems.
In addition to the Pharmacy, Bill serves the local community through his leadership role with Rotary international, having established the Rotary Youth Exchange program in Beverly, MA.
